On Tuesday, 19th February, there will be a risk of network outages in all buildings located within the area of campus that is west of South St and north of Prince Alfred St. This includes:
The Vice Chancellor's Lodge and CO2 research site (Orchard) would not be affected.
Planned electrical maintenance at the Stockenstrom substation beginning at 9:00 will interrupt the normal electricity supply to the network distribution equipment which serves these buildings. We do not expect that an outage will occur as the Electrical Section has arranged to supply power from a generator to the network equipment.
At any stage in the maintenance, should the generator fail and the UPS batteries be depleted, all network services (including IP telephones and Wi-Fi) in the area will be unavailable.
