- Outgoing mail server software updates: software on the server which handles outgoing mail from Rhodes staff and students will be updated. There will be times in the maintenance window when messages outgoing messages will not be able to be accepted. Attempts to send messages during those times will fail and your e-mail client will either show an error message indicating that the message could not be sent and/or store the message in your outbox. Should this happen to you, please resend your messages once the maintenance window is over.
- Wi-Fi controller software updates: software on the controllers managing Wi-Fi access points on campus will be updated. Wi-Fi access across campus will be unavailable for approximately ten minutes.
- RT update: software on the RT server may be updated, which may result in RT being unavailable for the entire maintenance window. New requests and updates sent by e-mail will be queued and processed later.
- Server software updates: software on the servers which provide the following services will be updated, resulting in outages of approximately five minutes per server:
- DNS
- DHCP
- RT
- Web proxies
- Registration system
- Incoming e-mail
- SMS
- Apple Software Update Server
- Provisioning (web proxy autodiscovery, telephone provisioning)
- Wi-Fi and VPN authentication
- RU Single Sign-on
- Mailing lists
- Webmail
- Mailbox access
- Terminal 4 content management system
- Access switch software updates: software on the AMM PBX switch will be updated. No noticeable outage is expected.
- Firewall software updates: software on the firewalls which connect the Internet to the campus, SEALS and public networks will be updated. As the firewalls operate as a redundant pair, no noticeable outages are expected during this maintenance.
