During the Tuesday, May 7th maintenance window, maintenance work will be performed on the Rhodes University firewalls, potentially causing Internet access outages. This work will start at 5:30 PM.
The software on the firewalls will be updated. As the firewalls operate as a redundant pair, it ought to be the case that no noticeable outage will occur. However, as this upgrade is a major version change, there is an increased risk of unforeseen problems which would cause longer outages as we attend to those problems.
An outage will result in all Internet services being inaccessible from campus, and all campus-hosted services being inaccessible from the Internet.
This maintenance work is being undertaken in the ITSC-approved scheduled maintenance window and should be completed before midnight.
