At about 14h00 today, all South African higher educational institutions lost access to the international Internet for approximately an hour.

We've received the following feedback from TENET (which appears to have been overtaken by events):

Both SANReN backbone circuits into the Durban PoP went down shortly after 14h00 today. The impact is a complete loss of international connectivity for most sites on the network. The fault has been logged with Telkom and more information will be released as soon as it's available.
