Network maintenance will be performed starting at 10:30 on Thursday night. Maintenance should be completed within two hours.

Expected impact of the maintenance:
  • This maintenance affects a critical switch, so almost all network services on campus (including access to the Internet) will be affected to some degree.
  • Some services will be affected only briefly -- for as long as it takes for a redundant system to take over (about two minutes).
  • Other parts of the campus network will experience outages of around 10 minutes. This will include most academic/admin buildings in the main campus area.
  • In the event that we experience problems and it becomes necessary to revert the configuration of the switch, it is possible that longer outages will be experienced.
During the maintenance, the software running on the core switch in the Struben Data Centre will be upgraded.
