It appears that there's a fault in Johannesburg that's affecting our ability to access certain South African sites. Users will most likely experience this as an ERR_DNS_FAIL or ERR_CONNECT_FAIL error when trying to access affected web sites.
We've reported the matter to TENET's service desk, who were already aware of the problem.

The fault is apparently a major cable break in Johannesburg. All higher educational institutions are affected by this, not just Rhodes.
Neotel are apparently working on the problem, and estimate that they'll have repaired the damage in about an hour's time.
