2007/10/10 - International Internet Utilization
QUOTE(TENET)
Akamai is apparently currently doing maintenance on their Cape Town clusters at Internet Solutions. As a result Akamai traffic is currently flowing internationally, causing very high utilizations on the International circuit, with more than 30mbit/second of traffic going internationally that would normally go nationally. TENET is awaiting a reply from Akamai as to when this will be resolved, but expect that it should resolve itself within the next 24 hours.

The implication of this is that all users should expect Internet traffic to/from international sites to be somewhat slow over the next day or so.
QUOTE(TENET)
After conversations with Internet Solutions and Akamai, it appears the Akamai cluster in Cape Town had been disabled due to memory issues in the cluster. This has now been resolved and the cluster is back online, hence the International bandwidth utilization has now stabilized.
