Reverse Path Filtering (RPF) has been implemented on the residence network. We do not expect this to have any noticeable effects in normal circumstances, but it will enhance the security of the network by eliminating the possibility of certain denial of service attacks occuring in future. We are planning to deploy RPF across the rest of the campus network within the next few months.
Should you notice that particular subnets of the campus network are no longer reachable from the residence network as a result of this change, please report the problem to support@ru.ac.za.
