According to Eskom, the power outages being experienced are due to problems at Koeberg.
They are engaged in load balancing various regions, and there might be further outages in this area. Pressed to predict when these outages might occur, the lady on their help desk admitted that they don't know until they have to switch something off.
So, power may go again, but it's not the municipality, so the chances are good that it would come up again in an hour or two rather than a day or three.
Nothing specific about what the problems at Koeberg are, but presumably it'll be all over the newspapers in due course.
On the IT side, most things are managing to recover reasonably gracefully. There's a few problems, but these should remain unnoticed by the normal user because of the redundancy recently built into our server configurations.
[edited to spell "gracefully" correctly]
