During the Tuesday, December 4th maintenance window, work will be done on all of the routers and firewalls which form the campus network, starting at 5:30 PM. This will involve a series of outages that will affect all network services (including IP telephony).
The maintenance work will entail significant reconfiguration of the core routers, as well as changes to distribution routers, firewalls and to the TENET/SANReN router which the university network connects to. The results of the work will be a better structured and more redundant design of the core and Internet edge routing layers of the network, as well as increasing the maximum possible throughput through the firewalls.
This maintenance work is being undertaken in the ITSC-approved scheduled maintenance window, and should be completed before midnight.
