TENET engineers will be conducting a series of tests on the Durban-Mtunzini redundant backhaul to verify that automatic failover is satisfactorily configured. These tests will take place during the next standard maintenance window (Sunday 9 May 2010) between 00h00 and 02h00. International bandwidth during these two hours will be subject to episodic interruption.

The redundant circuit referred to above was installed in the early hours of this morning (5 May), and unexpectedly resulted in a brief interruption in international Internet access.

The above tests will likely cause intermittent outages for Rhodes users. You will likely experience this outage as an ERR_DNS_FAIL or ERR_CONNECT_FAIL error when trying to access websites hosted internationally (including .za websites hosted out the country). When accessing secure (https://) web sites, your browser may report that the connection has timed out or the site is unreachable.
