Around 11:40, the University lost access to the Internet for reasons as yet unknown. Users will likely experience this as an ERR_DNS_FAIL or ERR_CONNECT_FAIL error when trying to access websites hosted off campus.
We have reported the problem to our service providers, and are awaiting feedback.

We've received feedback that the outage has been caused by a break in a fibre optic cable. While they're unable to reroute around the broken cable, they're attempting to repair the break.

Further feedback is the break was caused by a contractor in the Coega area, and that it is estimated that it will be repaired by 3:30 this afternoon.

Access was restored around 3:45 PM, and appears to have been stable since.
