2007/07/11 - Gecko Failure
Dear members of staff and students

The Novell server Gecko failed this morning. As a consequence staff will not be able to log in and use their home space on the server. Printing via the Novell queues will also be unavailable. The problem seems complex at this stage and we may need to call in Novell engineers to fix the problem.

Apologies for the inconvenience,
We have been unable to fix the problem on Gecko so far. A consultant is coming up from Port Elizabeth tomorrow to help. The problem is serious and Gecko is not likely to be up again before tomorrow morning.
