The fibre optic cable that connects Chemistry and Pharmacy to the University's network has developed a fault. As a result users in the Chemistry and Pharamacy departments will have been experiencing intermittent breaks in connectivity starting at about 08:50 this morning.
We are currently trying to isolate the fault and once we've done so, we'll repair it. At present there's no expected time of completion as we're not yet sure where the fault lies. More details may be posted later.
Whilst this fault directly impacts those in Chemistry and Pharmacy, it is also having an indirect impact on other parts of the campus. In particular, those people who're waiting for new network installations and/or changes to existing network or telephony installations will find that this work is delayed.
