At approximately 5 PM this evening (Thursday 8th September) we're going to be replacing the switch fabric modules in our core switch. This operation may take up to an hour and could result in intermittent network connectivity. As a result users may not be able to access various parts of campus, including the central server infrastructure, as well as the Internet whilst the work is being performed. We will endeavour to keep this interruption to a minimum.
The switching fabric modules we will be installing are on loan and will hopefully improve the stability of the core switch until such time as the replacement parts we've ordered arrive from overseas. This does however mean that there's likely to be a similar interuption at a later stage.
