In order to try and establish the cause of problems being experienced by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University while connecting to the shared library service (SEALS) hosted at Rhodes, Dimension Data will (at the request of NMMU) be conductings some tests on our network tomorrow. They intend to install a Peribit Sequence Reducer between Rhodes' TENET router and our two Internet firewalls.
As a result, all users will experience a loss of Internet connectivity from 12:50 on Wednesay 28 July. Connectivity should be restored within ten minutes. Thereafter we're told that the Peribit unit should have no effect on any Internet connections except those used by the SEALS libary service. We will continute to monitor the situation to ensure that this is the case.
