Microsoft recently released an update to Outlook that cause it to stop responding in some instances. This update was delivered to computers at Rhodes via our Windows Software Update Service server, and has affected a number of computers on campus.

There is currently no fix for the problem available from Microsoft. However, you can work around this problem by starting Outlook in safe mode. To do this:
  1. Click on Start, Run OR click on Start and in the Search Programs and Files type Outlook.exe /safe
  2. MS Outlook will open in safe mode.
  3. Click on File and then select Options.
  4. Select Add-Ins and the select the Go button. COM Add-Ins screen will open.
  5. Untick all Add-Ins that’s available except for the Office Link and Windows Search Email Indexer add-in, then click OK.
  6. Close MS Outlook and restart the program.
