Neotel will be performing scheduled maintenance on our access circuit this Sunday (13 March) beginning at 7AM. This maintenance will likely involve one or more Internet outages of unknown duration. However work is scheduled to be completed by 10AM.

You will likely experience this outage as an ERR_DNS_FAIL or ERR_CONNECT_FAIL error when trying to access websites. When accessing secure (https://) web sites, your browser may report that the connection has timed out or the site is unreachable.

During the maintenance period, Neotel will be relocating the Port Elizabeth end of our access circuit from a data centre on NMMU North campus to a data centre on NMMU South campus. This is because the fibre was originally terminated on the wrong campus, and not where SANReN's point-of-presence is located. To date we've been using a borrowed fibre pair from NMMU as an interim measure pending this change in order to connect to SANReN. This change is the completion of our Metro-E installation that was begun in September last year.
