We've just been informed of the following maintenance work that affects Rhodes:
QUOTE
Neotel will be implementing changes this forthcoming (Sunday 21 February
2010) during the maintenance window between 00h01 and 06h00. This
exercise will affect sites on Metro-E : University of Stellenbosch,
University of Cape Town and the University of the Western Cape and all
Gen-3 sites. SANReN sites and ADSL sites will not be affected, but will
not be able to reach any of the affected sites

Users will likely experience the outages as an ERR_DNS_FAIL or ERR_CONNECT_FAIL error when trying to access sites on the Internet.

Additionally, there will be permanent repair work taking place on multiple breaks in the fibre link between SEACOM's landing site and Durban. This will prevent access to international sites, and is also scheduled for the whole planned-maintenance window from 0001 until 0600. This is a follow-up on the temporary repair made yesterday.
