Shortly before 6PM this evening, the University's IMAP server (elephant.ru.ac.za) crashed for unknown reasons. This will have meant that users could not read their e-mail, but should still have been able to send e-mail.
The machine is currently rebooting, but will take a while to check its disks. Baring any further complications, it should be up by 7PM.
