As of today, the university's Usenet news servers (news.ru.ac.za, nntp.ru.ac.za and quagga.ru.ac.za) are no longer available. There is no longer sufficient user demand to justify providing the service.
For those few people who may still need access to Usenet groups, we recommend you use a third-party Usenet access service, such as groups.google.com.
